چکیده

Abstract In this work, the effects of externally applied axial pressure gradients and transverse magnetic fields on electrokinetic energy conversion (EKEC) efficiency streaming potential nanofluids through a microannulus are studied. The analytical solution for electro-magneto-hydro-dynamic (EMHD) flow is obtained under condition Debye-Hückel linearization. Especially, Green’s function method used to obtain solutions velocity field. result shows that distribution characterized by dimensionless frequency Ω, Hartmann number Ha , volume fraction nanoparticles φ geometric radius ratio wall ζ b . Moreover, three kinds periodic excitations compared discussed. results also show excitation square waveform more effective in increasing EKEC efficiency. It worth noting adjusting can affect

A minute magneto hydro dynamic (MHD) mixer

A theoretical and experimental investigation of a magneto hydrodynamic stirrer is presented. Such a stirrer can be used to enhance mixing in micro total analysis systems. The stirrer utilizes arrays of electrodes deposited on a conduit's walls. The conduit is filled with an electrolyte solution. By applying alternating potential differences across pairs of electrodes, currents are induced in va...

Nonlinear energy harvesting through a multimodal electro-mechanical system

A semi-analytical method is used to illustrate the behavior of a multimodal nonlinear electromechanical system which is under base-excitation. System is considered as piezo-ceramic patches attached to a cantilever beam coupled to a resistive load. The cantilever beam is modeled as a nonlinear Timoshenko beam using Assumed Mode method and equations of motion are derived through Lagrange's equati...

Electrokinetic energy conversion efficiency in nanofluidic channels.

We theoretically evaluate the prospect of using electrokinetic phenomena to convert hydrostatic energy to electrical power. An expression is derived for the energy conversion efficiency of a two-terminal fluidic device in terms of its linear electrokinetic response properties. For a slitlike nanochannel of constant surface charge density, we predict that the maximum energy conversion efficiency...

On the Stability of an Electrostatically-Actuated Functionally Graded Magneto-Electro-Elastic Micro-Beams Under Magneto-Electric Conditions

In this paper, the stability of a functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic (FG-MEE) micro-beam under actuation of electrostatic pressure is studied. For this purpose Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and constitutive relations for magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) materials have been used. We have supposed that material properties vary exponentially along the thickness direction of the micro-beam. Gov...

Energy conversion in magneto-rheological elastomers

Magneto-rheological (MR) elastomers contain micro-/nano-sized ferromagnetic particles dispersed in a soft elastomer matrix, and their rheological properties (storage and loss moduli) exhibit a significant dependence on the application of a magnetic field (namely MR effect). Conversely, it is reported in this work that this multiphysics coupling is associated with an inverse effect (i.e. the dep...
